22 Ecommerce Features You Should Not Have to Build, Buy, or Plug In

There is a well-circulated list of 22 must-have ecommerce features. Reading it is a quietly stressful experience because every item on that list, in the WordPress + WooCommerce world they recommend, is either a separate plugin, a paid integration, a developer hour, or a settings panel buried three menus deep. By the time you have all 22 working you have built a small spaceship with twelve subscriptions attached to it.

There is another path. A hosted storefront ships these features as defaults, not as extensions. You sign up, your store works, and the 22 things on the list either exist out of the box or are not relevant to a digital seller and can be ignored.

Below is each feature, what the WooCommerce path makes you do, and what 3DIMLI does instead. Skip to the table at the end if you want the summary.

1. Responsive design

WordPress path: pick a responsive theme, hope it is actually responsive on mobile, debug breakpoints when it is not. Cost: $0 to $200 for a premium theme.

3DIMLI: every storefront is mobile-responsive by default. No theme to choose, no breakpoints to debug.

2. Intuitive navigation

WordPress path: configure menus, build category trees, install navigation enhancement plugins. Cost: time.

3DIMLI: storefront has a fixed clean layout. Categories surface automatically based on your product types (3D Models, Graphics, Audio, Software, Ebooks, AI Models, Link Products, Games, Video).

WordPress path: configure footer widgets, write policy pages, link them.

3DIMLI: footer with policies, support email, and social links auto-populated from your store profile.

4. Accessibility (WCAG 2.1)

WordPress path: install accessibility audit plugin, fix theme ARIA tags, hope your color contrast passes.

3DIMLI: platform-level accessibility maintained centrally. You inherit it.

WordPress path: install a search plugin (SearchWP, Algolia, etc.). Cost: $99 to $999 per year.

3DIMLI: marketplace search across all stores at 3dimli.com/search plus per-store filtering. Free.

6. Product comparison tools

WordPress path: install a comparison plugin, configure attribute mapping. Cost: $30 to $150 per year.

3DIMLI: not core to digital storefronts where buyers usually pick one item. Marketplace browsing surfaces alternatives organically.

7. Personalized recommendations

WordPress path: install a recommendations plugin or AI engine. Cost: $20 to $200 a month.

3DIMLI: cross-store recommendations built into marketplace search. Buyers who view your product see related listings, including yours, automatically.

8. Product reviews and social proof

WordPress path: install a reviews plugin, moderate spam, prevent fake reviews. Cost: $10 to $50 a month.

3DIMLI: built-in chat with buyers and order management lets you build relationships directly. Reviews surface organically through repeat purchase data.

9. Comprehensive product pages

WordPress path: configure product fields, add custom attributes, install a media gallery plugin.

3DIMLI: structured product pages with thumbnail, description, license tier selector, variants, and instant download. No setup beyond filling in fields.

10. Smooth checkout process

WordPress path: configure WooCommerce checkout, install one-page checkout plugin, A/B test fields. Cost: $50 to $200 per year.

3DIMLI: streamlined checkout. Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay all standard. Buyer pays, file delivered. No fields you do not need.

11. Secure payment gateways

WordPress path: install Stripe plugin, configure SSL, get PCI DSS attestation if you process card data. Cost: $0 to $500.

3DIMLI: Stripe, PayPal, and Razorpay connect with OAuth. Money goes to your gateway. Compliance handled at platform level.

12. Promotions, discounts, coupons

WordPress path: install coupon plugin or use WooCommerce's built-in but limited tools.

3DIMLI: pricing controls per product. Variant pricing for tiered offers. Use a Link Product to drive promo email subscribers.

13. Return and refund management

WordPress path: configure refunds in WooCommerce + Stripe dashboard, write refund policy page, link from footer.

3DIMLI: refunds processed through your gateway dashboard (Stripe/PayPal/Razorpay). Order management dashboard tracks every transaction.

14. User accounts and order tracking

WordPress path: install user accounts plugin, configure order tracking, build a my-account page.

3DIMLI: buyer accounts and order history are platform-native. Buyers track orders and re-download files from their account.

15. Loyalty and rewards

WordPress path: install loyalty plugin (LoyaltyLion, Smile.io). Cost: $50 to $300 a month.

3DIMLI: not built in as a points engine. Most digital sellers run loyalty informally via license tier upgrades or bundle pricing. Skip the $300 a month plugin.

16. Multiple support channels

WordPress path: install live chat plugin, set up help desk, integrate FAQs. Cost: $30 to $150 a month.

3DIMLI: built-in chat between buyers and sellers. Plus your store's support email. Plus 3DIMLI's own support docs handle platform-level questions buyers might ask.

17. Content management system

WordPress path: WordPress is the CMS, but you fight Gutenberg + theme + plugin compatibility. Cost: maintenance time.

3DIMLI: store profile, products, descriptions, all editable from your dashboard. No CMS to manage because the storefront layout is fixed and quality-controlled.

18. Inventory integration

WordPress path: install inventory sync plugin if you sell across channels. Cost: $20 to $200 a month.

3DIMLI: digital products are not inventory-limited. License tiers handle the closest equivalent (different rights packages). Cross-channel sync is unnecessary because the file is the file.

19. Analytics and reporting

WordPress path: install GA4 plugin + Meta Pixel plugin + WooCommerce reports + a heatmap tool. Cost: $0 to $200 a month.

3DIMLI: GA4 + Meta Pixel per store built in. Dashboard with sales, traffic, and order analytics. Free.

20. SEO-friendly architecture

WordPress path: install Yoast or RankMath, configure schema, optimize URLs, build sitemap, fight technical SEO issues. Cost: $0 to $200 a year for the SEO plugin + months of grind.

3DIMLI: platform-level SEO. Clean URLs (3dimli.com/store/your-slug, 3dimli.com/product/your-product). Schema applied. Sitemaps generated. Marketplace authority backs your product pages.

21. Multilingual and multi-currency

WordPress path: install WPML or similar ($99 to $300 per year), translate every page, configure currency switcher.

3DIMLI: marketplace supports global buyers. Stripe/PayPal/Razorpay handle currency conversion at the gateway. Listings stay in your authored language; descriptions can be translated by the seller.

22. Omnichannel experience

WordPress path: build separate apps, sync inventory, integrate POS, manage everything from a custom admin.

3DIMLI: digital storefront only, no POS. The omnichannel feature is irrelevant for digital sellers. Use the time elsewhere.

Bonus features only digital storefronts have

That 22-feature list was written for general ecommerce. Digital storefronts get a few extras the list does not even mention.

Built-in license tiers: Standard, Commercial Redistribution, Editorial Use Only, CC BY 4.0, applied per product. WooCommerce makes you hand-roll this in product descriptions.

Software license verification API: For software products on 3DIMLI, an API endpoint validates serial keys against your buyer database. WooCommerce equivalents cost $30 to $100 per year and rarely work cleanly.

Bulk uploads + Watch Folder: Bulk ingest a directory or point the watch folder at a local path so new exports show up as draft products. WooCommerce makes you upload and configure each one.

Diverse product types: 3D Models, Graphics, Audio, Software, Ebooks, AI Models, Link Products, Games, Video. WooCommerce handles "products" generically and you bolt on type-specific behavior.

Marketplace discovery: Buyers browsing 3dimli.com/search find your store organically. WooCommerce gives you an island.

What this looks like in dollars

If you actually paid for the WooCommerce plugin pile to match the 22 features:

  • Search plugin: $200/yr
  • Comparison: $80/yr
  • Recommendations: $600/yr ($50/mo)
  • Reviews: $240/yr ($25/mo)
  • One-page checkout: $80/yr
  • Coupons advanced: $80/yr
  • Loyalty: $1,200/yr ($100/mo)
  • Live chat: $600/yr ($50/mo)
  • Inventory sync: $480/yr ($40/mo)
  • Analytics suite: $600/yr ($50/mo)
  • SEO premium: $200/yr
  • Multilingual: $200/yr

Plugin total: roughly $4,560 per year just to bolt features that 3DIMLI ships out of the box.

3DIMLI Fixed plan at $25 a month: $240 per year. With 0% commission. With marketplace search included.

What 3DIMLI does not pretend to have

Honesty: 3DIMLI does not yet ship a custom domain (your URL is 3dimli.com/store/your-slug) or a drag-and-drop page builder. Both are on the public roadmap. Custom domain support is coming. The page builder is already in WIP demos on the 3DIMLI YouTube channel and will ship as part of the storefront. Email marketing is not a proprietary built-in tool, but any provider (Mailchimp, ConvertKit, Buttondown, Resend, Klaviyo) plugs in through n8n, Zapier, or Make.com integrations to trigger campaigns on sale, refund, or follower events. None of these are deal breakers for most digital sellers.

The trade is real. You give up some surface-level customization. You get back the four thousand dollars and the fifty hours.

Out of beta as of April 2026

3DIMLI exited beta this month. Stable platform, live payment gateways, marketplace search indexed, real sellers shipping. The pricing page is final. The 0% commission Fixed plan is permanent.

Stop assembling. Start selling.

The 22-feature list is real. Customers do expect every one of these. The question is who pays for them: you (in plugins, dollars, and weekends) or the platform (in default features).

Open 3DIMLI, set up your store, and let the platform absorb the cost of the features you should not be assembling. Your year 1 spend goes from $4,000+ in plugin licences to $240 in subscription. The features stay the same. The seller is the only one who changes: from a part-time IT department to someone who ships products.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these features really included or just promised?

Real. Sign up at 3dimli.com/register and your store has all of these on day one. No upgrades, no add-ons, no "premium tier" tax.

What happens if I outgrow 3DIMLI?

Export your products. Files are yours. Buyer data is yours. You move to a self-hosted setup if you ever need to. Most digital sellers do not because the maintenance ROI is negative.

Why does the WooCommerce plugin pile cost so much?

Each plugin is a small business. Each one needs revenue. Each one charges per site, per year, with annual renewals. Compounded across twelve plugins, you get to $4,000+ in a year easily.

Does the 0% commission on Fixed apply to Stripe/PayPal/Razorpay fees?

No. Gateway fees are between you and your gateway. They charge 2.9% + $0.30 (or local equivalent) on every transaction. 3DIMLI does not skim on top of that. Same as if you ran your own WooCommerce store.

Can I use 3DIMLI for physical products?

The platform is digital-first. For physical, a hybrid setup makes more sense (3DIMLI for the digital catalog, a separate fulfilment partner for shipped items). For 100% digital sellers, 3DIMLI covers the whole stack.
